The weather has been spring like.
Been able to do a little hiking.
If it stays this nice I`ll go right back out in a few
days. San Clemente Pier or my favorite - Big Bear
to Running Springs.
I take the MARTA bus from Court & E up to BB hike over to Running Springs or Lake Arrowhead then
MARTA bus back down the hill.

Really want to start a long hike this spring.
Plan to camp here at Perris for the winter
while working vairous jobs and saving enough
cash to support a hike. So far its not looking
to good. Work is super hard to find. Make enough
to get along but not enough to save. Hope things
will get busy soon.
All good,
Jeffro

Wisdon:

The enjoyment of any experience is greatly increased when it is shared with others.

Be firm yet fair.
With you’re self as well as others.

Hike you’re own hike.
Lest you go from enjoying to enduring.

Toughness:
Being tough is not a physical thing nor does it have anything to do with your pain threshold.
Toughness is a mental muscle that quickly becomes very strong with the slightest training.
Many people go through life letting everyone and everything beat them up.
It happens when someone says or does something that steals your sunshine and changes your mood.
Regardless of size, age or gender…
You have been beaten about the head and drug around the parking lot.
And every time you complain or tell the story you take another bashing.
A tough guy realizes this and has learned to simply ask “am I tougher than this?” then continues.
A tough guy’s sunshine cannot be stolen nor mood changed from good to bad.
Regardless of the harshness of the attempt or the damage intended.
Therefore a tough guy may be beat but not beaten, flattened but not crushed.
It is difficult to be tough the first few times. But it just keeps getting easier.
Have fun every day, be tough, die trying!

Exercise your “right to roam”. Hike every chance you get.

Shift gears!
Horsepower = load lifted in a given amount of time. Everyone knows that going lite uses less energy. Dont forget that going slower works good too. Change gears when the temp or grade changes.

Decided to head back to California.
Hard choice to make as it would be fun to keep going. Am in good shape, well supplied and right on the doorsteep.
Think I am trying to force a good hike on a bad year. Two major elements are missing. Good tread and other hikers.
Have not met any thru hikers going North into Washington. Snow, mud and water on the trail makes for slow going. Hiking alone in the snow makes for a heavy pack with extra food and warm clothes. Searching for the trail alone as the sun goes down is a thrill and a challenge the first couple times. After that it feels more like Russian roulette.
So the Washington section of the PCT has alluded me yet again.
Oh well, maybe next year.
It`s all good,
